Burgenklassik – Stolzenfels Castle (Villa Musica)

Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz is the central support and dissemination organization for classical music in the state. For decades, it has supported young top talents with scholarships, chamber music courses, and concert series. One of its most characteristic formats is "Burgenklassik" – chamber music in the unique setting of the Middle Rhine castles and palaces.

Stolzenfels Castle – Prussian Royal Castle

The venue on June 3, 2026, is Stolzenfels Castle, a neo-Gothic castle high above the Rhine in the south of Koblenz. Built between 1836 and 1845 under King Friedrich Wilhelm IV of Prussia, Stolzenfels is a major work of Rhine Romanticism. The architecture quotes medieval castle architecture, while the interiors combine Prussian representation with the romantic spirit of the 19th century. Today, Stolzenfels Castle is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley.

String Duos and Young Talents

The program features string duos with works from the classical and romantic repertoire, interpreted by musicians who are supported by the Villa Musica program. The exact names and works will be announced in advance on villamusica.de. The Burgenklassik series traditionally focuses on intimate ensembles – duos, trios, quartets – which make optimal use of the acoustic possibilities of the historic rooms.

Concert Atmosphere

Anyone attending a Burgenklassik concert experiences not only the musical program but also the historic space: the castle halls with their elaborate neo-Gothic furnishings, the viewing terraces overlooking the Rhine, the tranquil castle garden. Before and after the concert, guests often have the opportunity to visit the grounds or have an aperitif.

Getting There and Tickets
