Federal Marksmen's Festival of the Ganderkesee Marksmen's Association — Kick-off of the marksmen's festival season in the twelve clubs of the municipality
The Federal Marksmen's Festival of the Ganderkesee Marksmen's Association is the annual season opener for marksmen's festivals in the municipality of Ganderkesee. It brings together the twelve affiliated marksmen's clubs for a joint festival weekend and lays the foundation for subsequent club festivals, which are spread throughout the summer months, with the King's Shoot and the proclamation of the Federal King.
In 2026, the Federal Marksmen's Festival will be celebrated on May 30 and 31. The traditional opening with competitive shooting will be crowned by the King's proclamation on Sunday at 4 p.m. Shooting competitions and the festival parade will take place at the Adelheide shooting range.
The Ganderkesee Marksmen's Association is the umbrella organization of the marksmen's clubs in the municipality of Ganderkesee. It comprises twelve clubs from the districts of the municipality — from Adelheide to Bookholzberg and Urneburg. Each club celebrates its own marksmen's festival during the summer, with the Federal Marksmen's Festival marking the joint opening.
The highlight is the Federal King's Shoot — the marksmen kings of the twelve clubs compete against each other to determine the Federal King. This tradition makes the Federal Marksmen's Festival the representative event for the entire marksmen's community in the municipality of Ganderkesee.
For many Ganderkesee residents, the weekend marks the beginning of the marksmen's festival season. In the following months of June, July, and August, the twelve member clubs celebrate their own marksmen's festivals one after another — from Schönemoor to Hengsterholz-Havekost, Annenheide, Ganderkesee, Bookholzberg, Hoyerswege, Grüppenbühren, Bürstel-Immer, Falkenburg, Urneburg, Adelheide, to Bergedorf.
The shooting ranges of the Adelheide Sports Marksmen's Association form the infrastructural center of the Federal Marksmen's Festival. Competitions in the disciplines of air rifle, small-bore rifle, and sometimes large-bore rifle take place here.
The 2026 Federal Marksmen's Festival of the Ganderkesee Marksmen's Association will take place on May 30 and 31 at the Adelheide shooting range. The Federal King's Shoot and the proclamation of the Federal King on Sunday at 4 p.m. mark the start of the marksmen's festival season in the twelve clubs of the municipality.

Throughout the weekend, the shooting competitions will take place, complemented by joint program items from the twelve member clubs. The catering in the Adelheide clubhouse will provide refreshments. On Sunday, the festive proclamation of the Federal King will be the highlight from 4 p.m. onwards.
