A Festival by Citizens for Citizens
The Bürgerfest Neustadt a.d. Waldnaab is the community town festival of the administrative district capital of the Upper Palatinate. It is supported by numerous clubs, organizations, and volunteers who provide a colorful program of music, culinary delights, and conviviality. Mayor Sebastian Giering regularly highlights the good cooperation of those involved as the heart of the festival.
Due to the still uncertain renovation of the town square, the Bürgerfest will again take place in the Freyung in 2026. A significant innovation: Instead of the previous two stages, there will only be one large stage in the future. The city is thus responding to the organizational and acoustic challenges of the previous "double sound system" – a new spatial concept accompanies the change.
Music, Culinary Delights, and Socializing
The festival thrives on live music – in previous years, for example, the party and show band "Eslarner" – on culinary stands run by the clubs, and on convivial socializing in the middle of the city. It is the summer meeting point for the entire citizenry of Neustadt an der Waldnaab.
Bürgerfest Neustadt/WN — edition 2026
The Bürgerfest 2026 will again take place in the Freyung, as the renovation of the town square is not yet complete. The central innovation of the 2026 edition: Instead of two stages, there will only be one large stage, accompanied by a new spatial concept. The city thus resolves the organizational and acoustic problems of the previous "double sound system". The exact date in July and the complete program had not yet been published at the time of research; traditionally, the festival takes place in mid/late July (2025: Saturday, July 19). The organizers announce a colorful program of music and culinary delights.
