Joint civic festival of the cities of Bad Oeynhausen and Löhne in the Aqua-Magica Park from May 8th to 10th, 2026
The Bürgerfest Bad Oeynhausen & Löhne is a jointly organized city festival of the two East Westphalian cities. The venue is the Aqua-Magica Park, located directly on the city border — a park created for the 2000 State Garden Show, with its characteristic Erdtrichter (an funnel-shaped depression in the ground) being one of the defining landmarks of the region.
BEBO EVENTS, the organizer, describes the format as "A festival by citizens for citizens". The focus is on clubs, local artists, and dance groups — complemented by professional live acts. Music, dance, and show programs alternate on several open-air stages; in addition, there are amusement rides, a flea market, market stalls, and children's activities.
The Bürgerfest is explicitly designed as a family festival. Play areas, craft activities, and a children's program cater to the youngest visitors. For adults, there is live music from various genres and a changing show program. Market stalls offer crafts, street food, and regional products.
Bad Oeynhausen is a spa town in the Minden-Lübbecke district with nearly 50,000 inhabitants, known for its thermal baths and the Bad Oeynhausen Theater. Löhne, directly adjacent in the Herford district, combines tradition and industry. The joint Bürgerfest is one of the most important examples of regional cooperation between the cities of Ostwestfalen-Lippe.
The Aqua-Magica Park was created as part of the 2000 State Garden Show and has since been one of the characteristic landscape parks in Ostwestfalen-Lippe. Its most famous element: the Erdtrichter — a funnel-shaped, several meters deep depression in the ground, in the center of which water appears to flow downwards. The sculptural element adds a unique accent to the otherwise flat landscape park and also forms a photogenic backdrop during the Bürgerfest.
Visitors should plan enough time for the park itself — a combined tour of the festival and a park walk is worthwhile. With Löhne (Westfalen) station as the nearest public transport connection, traveling by train is also a good option. Those planning a longer trip can combine the festival visit with a stay in the Bad Oeynhausen thermal baths or the neighboring Minden Cathedral district — a combination of festival culture, relaxation, and historical city culture in Ostwestfalen.
The 2026 edition continues the proven concept: three days of family festival in the Aqua-Magica Park with stages, market stalls, and amusement rides. Organizer BEBO EVENTS coordinates the program together with the participating clubs from Bad Oeynhausen and Löhne.
As in previous years, the highlight on Saturday evening is a key part of the program planning — details will be published on the official website and Facebook page. The Westfalen-Blatt local editorial office also reports regularly before the festival with a program overview.
