35th edition of the wine festival in the spa park with Sunday shopping in the city centre from September 4th to 6th, 2026
Bad Oeynhausen is one of Northern Germany's most traditional spa towns. Located in the Minden-Lübbecke district between the Teutoburg Forest and the Weser river, the town has thrived since 1845 thanks to its carbonated saline springs and the approximately 26-hectare Kurpark — one of Germany's most beautiful historic spa parks, designed by Royal Prussian Garden Director Wilhelm Friedrich Glück. In the heart of this green oasis, the Bad Oeynhausen Wine Festival has been held annually at the beginning of September since 1991 — for the 35th time in 2026.
The venue is the area around the Kurpark, including the Wandelhalle, Kurtheater, and Lichtspielhaus. Over three days, wine stands will be set up here, where established wineries from Rheinhessen, Mosel, Pfalz, Baden, Franken, and sometimes even Austrian regions will present their selections. The concept is deliberately relaxed: no prominent stage shows, but a genuine tasting culture. Standing tables, seating areas under the park trees, accompanied by small snacks — cheese, tarte flambée, antipasti, bread — and live music in the background.
The wine festival attracts a surprisingly loyal audience — many have been coming for decades. What they appreciate:
On Sunday, September 6th, 2026, Sunday shopping in the Bad Oeynhausen city centre will complement the wine festival. Those who combine the weekend can visit the spa park with its wine stands in the morning, stroll through the town at lunchtime, and return to the park in the afternoon for a relaxed conclusion.
The wine festival is organised by Hotel Stickdorn, a traditional establishment in Bad Oeynhausen, in cooperation with Staatsbad Bad Oeynhausen GmbH, the operator of the spa park. This public-private partnership makes it possible for the festival to remain free of charge and for the special character of the spa park to be preserved. With its 35th edition in 2026, the Bad Oeynhausen Wine Festival is one of the oldest established wine festivals in Ostwestfalen.
For those staying longer: The GOP Varieté-Theater in the historic Wandelhalle, the Wandelhalle itself with its famous glass roof, the Therme Bad Oeynhausen thermal baths, the Jordan-Sprudel viewpoint, or a hike to the nearby Wittekindsberg with the Kaiser Wilhelm Monument are worth an extended weekend.
Three days of wine tasting culture in the Bad Oeynhausen Kurpark: well-known vintners with their new vintages, standing tables and seating under old trees, small snacks, quiet background music. Those who buy wine directly from the vintner receive advice and can order delivery for the season. Sunday: open city centre.
Free admission. Wines by the glass and bottle at the stands, glass deposit customary. Food priced individually.
