Anniversary edition of the village festival with SWR3 party, US Cars/Harley-Davidson meeting, and laser show from Europapark Rust
When the Brigachtal festival grounds transform into a festival mile on the last weekend of July before the Black Forest summer holidays, it's time for the Brigachtal Village Festival. The 40th edition runs from July 25 to 27, 2026 — an anniversary that the municipality of Brigachtal is celebrating accordingly. The program is spread over three days and combines the classic village festival format with special accents for the anniversary edition.
The festival kicks off on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 4 PM with the traditional barrel tapping, accompanied by the local music association and a ceremonial cannon shot — Brigachtal's version of the Volksfest opening ritual. From 7 PM, an SWR3 DJ party takes over the stage — one of the highlights for the younger audience. The volume and energy of the party define the Saturday evening.
Sunday, July 26, 2026, begins with an ecumenical service in the morning. During the day, lovers of American automotive and motorcycle culture meet in Brigachtal: a parade of US muscle cars and Harley-Davidson bikes rolls through the town and to the festival grounds. In the evening, three rock bands will take the stage, including a rockabilly group that fits the American program focus of the day.
Monday, July 27, 2026, concludes the festival with a relaxed program: a magic show by the well-known entertainer Dieter Sirringhaus in the afternoon/early evening, and a final hour of brass music with the Brigachtal Music Association. Monday is the family and closing day — a relaxed atmosphere before the start of the Black Forest summer holidays.
A special program component of the Brigachtal Village Festival is the laser show: it runs twice on all three days — at 10 PM and midnight. The show is sourced from Europapark Rust — the amusement park of the Rust group, which uses laser show technology in many of its themed areas. For a village festival of this scale, a laser show from Rust is a remarkable investment and enhances the anniversary atmosphere.
Catering is provided by 18 Brigachtal clubs — an extraordinary number for a community of around 5,000 inhabitants. This speaks to the high density of clubs and the dedicated village life. You'll find classic festival food specialties at the club stands: Bratwurst, grilled steak, fries, Black Forest ham, regional cheese, crêpes, and Black Forest beer from a regional brewery. Carousels, trampolines, and shooting galleries complement the offerings for children.
Brigachtal has maintained a partnership with Essay-Lès-Nancy in Lorraine, France, for years. In this anniversary year, guests from the partner municipality are expected — a wonderful opportunity for German-French exchange right at the festival grounds. French and German will be spoken interchangeably, and crêpes and croque-monsieur will complement the food offerings.
The municipality of Brigachtal is located in the Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis (Black Forest-Baar District), in the southwestern Black Forest foothills. It consists of three districts: Klengen, Kirchdorf, and Überauchen. Its location at the source of the Danube is noteworthy: the Brigach — one of the two headstreams of the Danube (the other being the Breg) — flows through the municipality. The Danube officially originates from the confluence of the Brigach and Breg in Donaueschingen, the neighboring town. Brigachtal thus has a special geographical identity: this is where the course of one of Europe's most important rivers begins. In summer, the region is popular for hikes along the Brigach and in the Black Forest foothills — the village festival is the social highlight of the summer.
The 40th edition of the Brigachtal Village Festival is the anniversary edition of the event held annually since 1986 (or around that time). The program features special highlights — from the SWR3 DJ party on Saturday, the US Cars/Harley parade on Sunday, to the laser show from Europapark Rust on all three days.
The municipality of Brigachtal, together with the 18 local clubs, is organizing the event. Guests from the partner town of Essay-Lès-Nancy are also expected.
