Braubach 750 Years of Town Privileges – Anniversary Program

Braubach was granted town privileges by King Rudolf von Habsburg in 1276 – a decisive turning point for the small settlement on the Rhine, which could henceforth act legally independently, hold markets, levy taxes, and fortify itself. In 2026, this event marks its 750th anniversary, and the town is celebrating with a year of festivities that is extraordinary in its scope.

The anniversary program extends from April to November 2026 and serves as a framework for Braubach's entire event calendar. Concerts, theater productions, a historical medieval market, exhibitions, special culinary formats, lectures, and "many surprises" combine to create a dense series of events.

The official ceremony will take place on the Friday before Rhein in Flammen – that is, on August 7, 2026. With official speeches, musical accompaniment, and a festive evening, it forms the protocol highlight of the year. On the following day, August 8, 2026, the anniversary seamlessly transitions into the grand summer night festival and the Rhein in Flammen Spay–Koblenz fireworks – thus, the major event automatically becomes the anniversary celebration.

Special highlights are planned: parachutists are intended to welcome the town as part of the anniversary weekend, and a specially composed town anthem will be premiered. These elements underscore the solemn, identity-forming character of the anniversary.
