Stramuso — Street Art World Visits the Baar
The Bräunlinger Straßenmusiksonntag has been held every two years for decades and has become a fixed date in the southern German street art scene. The small, medieval-influenced town of Bräunlingen, with its approximately 6,000 inhabitants, doubles its population on this weekend — artists and audiences travel from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and France.
Over 150 Artists, 50 Groups, 19th Edition
More than 150 artists perform in around 50 groups throughout the city center. Kirchstraße and the adjacent alleys become continuous stages: acoustic bands, a cappella ensembles, classical quartets, brass groups, mime, acrobatics, stilt walkers, juggling, walk-act theatre. A dedicated section is devoted to Asphalt Art — artists paint large-format illusionistic works directly on the street pavement all day long.
Budenzauber on Saturday Evening
Saturday evening already beckons with the festive Budenzauber: the city center fills with stalls, light installations, and initial musical acts — an atmospheric prelude to the grand Sunday. The transition from the warm summer night to the extended festival Sunday is part of Stramuso's identity.
The Festival Sunday — 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The actual street music Sunday runs on Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The artists set up from late morning, the program begins at 11 a.m. and fills the entire old town with parallel performances for eight hours. There is no fixed schedule in the classic sense — those who stroll discover a new stage, a new act, a new pavement artwork every 50–100 meters. The typical atmosphere of a street art festival: chaotic, dense, joyful, with exuberant crowds switching between watching, clapping along, and taking breaks on the curb.
Bräunlingen — Historic Small Town in the Black Forest-Baar District
Bräunlingen (Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis, AGS 08326) is located at the transition between the Black Forest and the Baar high plateau, south of Donaueschingen. The historic city center with its town wall, town hall, and St. Remigius Church forms the festival backdrop. Admission to Stramuso is free — the artists live from the hat collection. Those who appreciate it bring one to two euros for every second act.
