Botnanger Kuckucksfest — A District in Festive Attire
The Botnanger Kuckucksfest is the annual neighbourhood festival of the Stuttgart district of Botnang. It takes place around the community centre in the heart of the district and is one of those Stuttgart district festivals that are not made for tourists, but for the neighbourhood itself — and that's precisely why they are so authentic. Organised by OGV Botnang together with the other district clubs.
What to Expect
The stage features alternating live music — mostly regional bands, choirs, and music clubs. The children's programme offers games, hands-on activities, and small attractions. At the club stalls, Botnang clubs — from the Swabian Alb Association to sports clubs and church choirs — serve guests homemade food and drinks at club-friendly prices. The festival serves as both a showcase and a meeting place for Botnang's club scene.
Botnang — Stuttgart's Smallest District
With around 14,000 inhabitants, Botnang is Stuttgart's smallest district by population and is nestled between forests west of the Stuttgart valley basin. Its location on the edge of the city, surrounded by orchards and recreational areas, shapes its character: lots of greenery, a vibrant club scene, and a village-like flair. The name Kuckucksfest (Cuckoo Festival) refers to the bird's call, which can still be heard often here thanks to the abundance of forests — and to the self-confidence of the people of Botnang, who see themselves as an independent village within the big city.
The Format
Two days of neighbourhood festival in the classic sense: no big stage with national acts, but club stalls, local music, children's fun, and tables shared with neighbours. This makes the festival relaxed, child-friendly, and attractive to all generations. If you want to experience Stuttgart beyond the inner-city clichés, this is the place to be — an authentic district festival that showcases the self-image of Botnang's residents and where the neighbourhood celebrates itself in its own way.
