A Neighborhood Celebrates Itself

The Bornstedt Neighborhood Festival is the annual grand gathering in northern Potsdam. In 2026, it will be held for the tenth time — and the program reflects the vibrancy of a neighborhood that has grown between Volkspark, Biosphäre, and Lake Krampnitz. Behind the festival is the Bornstedt Neighborhood Work with its neighborhood shop, which coordinates social services throughout the year. Free admission, interactive formats for all generations, regional catering — this is how neighborhood culture works here.

Date and Schedule 2026

On Saturday, May 30, 2026, the festival will take place on the meadow at Erwin-Barth-Straße from 12 PM to 6 PM. Setup from 9:30 AM, opening around noon, stage program from 2 PM. You can stroll past information booths of the fire department, schools, and kindergartens, past play activities, craft stations, and food stalls. Local clubs showcase their activities, and Volkspark Potsdam and Biosphäre are represented, as is the neighborhood management.

Stage and Flea Market

Dance groups, school choirs, an interactive circus, and live bands will alternate on stage. For the anniversary, there will be a flea market for the first time, running parallel on the meadow from 1 PM to 6 PM. Stall fee for private sellers is 5 Euros; sellers must bring their own tables and blankets. Registration is via [email protected].

Bornstedt — A Neighborhood with History

Bornstedt was once a settlement for court gardeners of the Prussian kings; today, the neighborhood is one of the fastest-growing areas in the state capital Potsdam. Directly adjacent: Volkspark, the Lake Krampnitz area, and the Bornstedt Field. The neighborhood festival is the annual moment when long-time families, new residents, and kindergarten parents share the same festival grounds.

Brandenburg Neighborhood Culture

The Bornstedt Neighborhood Festival is representative of a vibrant neighborhood culture in Potsdam (State of Brandenburg). Free admission, program from within the neighborhood, non-commercial yet professionally organized.
