Fresh Tradition – The Second Edition

The Bockumer Herbstsause is one of Krefeld's youngest neighbourhood festivals and, at the same time, supported by Bockum's oldest club: the Bockumer Schützenverein 1611 e.V., which has shaped club life in this Krefeld district for over 400 years. After a successful premiere in 2025, the 2nd edition takes place on October 2nd and 3rd, 2026 – a weekend around the Day of German Unity.

Venue: The Church Square

The venue is the church square of the parish of St. Christophorus / St. Gertrudis in Krefeld-Bockum, right in the heart of the district. The combination of the historic church square, shady trees, and the parish infrastructure provides an ideal setting for a car-free weekend festival.

Palatinate Culinary Concept

A special feature of the Bockumer Herbstsause is its deliberately Palatinate culinary concept: Zwiebelkuchen (onion cake), Flammkuchen (tarte flambée), Kartoffelsuppe (potato soup), and pfälzer Bratwurst (Palatinate sausage) are freshly prepared in the Schützen (marksmen's club) stalls, complemented by Federweißer (young wine) and Riesling. A charming gesture – connecting the Rhenish city of Krefeld with the tradition of Southern German autumn.

Live Music – Blues, Swing, Rock 'n' Roll

The stage will feature live music on both days: Blues, Swing, and Rock 'n' Roll form the musical profile – not a Schlager open-air event, but deliberately roots-oriented. Exact band names will be communicated via the club's website and parish communication channels.

Children's Program

For the youngest visitors, the Schützenverein and the parish have organized a diverse family program: face painting, sports and activity stations, Bockumer archery (fitting for a marksmen's club, child-friendly), craft activities, and play areas.

Bockum and the Schützenverein 1611

Bockum is one of Krefeld's more affluent districts, with well-kept villas, a green character, and active club life. The Bockumer Schützenverein 1611 e.V. has been the driving force behind this club life for over four centuries. Its motto: “Gutstalten – Treuhalten – Festhalten am Alten” (Maintain good values – Remain loyal – Hold fast to the old). Member of the German and Rhenish Shooting Associations.
