The Schützenverein zu Bockenem was founded in 1871 and has been an integral part of the town's civic festival culture ever since. Generations of Bockenem residents have shaped the club and its Schützenfest. Today, the club cultivates tradition with dedication and in close cooperation with other clubs, the town of Bockenem, and the surrounding districts.
Program Structure of a Schützenfest
A classic Lower Saxony Schützenfest follows a well-established dramaturgy: Opening with a welcome and the first shooting, the king's shooting on the main festival day, a parade through the town with marksmen kings, clubs, and music bands, followed by a festival ball or dance evening, and a family program on Sunday with a morning pint, children's entertainment, and a relaxed conclusion.

The town of Bockenem is located in the southeastern district of Hildesheim on the edge of the Harz mountains.
