Festival at Berlin's Natural Beach
The Blau Licht Beach Festival utilizes one of Berlin's most beautiful natural settings: the Strandbad Grünau on Langen See in the Grünau district (Treptow-Köpenick borough). The approximately 200-meter-long sandy beach area, framed by pine forest, is transformed into a one-day open-air festival with two stages once a summer.
Two Areas
The festival takes place simultaneously on two areas, with clearly separated musical styles:
- Beach Stage – Main stage directly by the water, House and mainstream electronic sets
- Forest Arena – Second stage in the pine forest behind the lido, offering harder and more experimental sounds
A Festival with a Police Wink
The festival name “Blau Licht” plays on the German term for the blue flashing lights of police, fire, and rescue services. The organizers use this pun for a social initiative: Everyday Heroes (police, fire department, rescue services, healthcare, teachers) receive a free drink upon presentation of their professional ID. Thus, the festival also serves as a gesture of appreciation for professional groups who are usually outside the typical festival audience.
Grünau and the Lido
The Strandbad Grünau is one of Berlin's most traditional lidos, originally from the 1920s, and is located on Langen See – one of the most important recreational waters in Berlin's southeast. The lido is easily accessible by S-Bahn line S46 or Tram 68; there are no parking spaces available on site.
Admission and Conditions
The festival is for ages 18 and over. Admission is €21.90 (Early Bird), €25.90 (Regular), €29.90 (Last Minute), plus booking fees. Payment on-site is cashless only – by card. Bottles, weapons, large bags, and pyrotechnics are prohibited.
