Pentecost in Brass Sound
Since 2014, the Big-Band Festival in Holzminden has established itself as a recurring highlight every two years: centrally placed during the Pentecost holidays, embedded in the compact city center, supported by the commitment of the big band scene and the city of Holzminden.
Five Bands, One Workshop, Many Stages
Characteristic of the format are the five invited bands as well as the project band, which is formed together with the festival bands in a workshop. Over the three festival days, concerts are spread across different stages: the picnic concert in the Kauffmannsgarten as a relaxed start, the results concert on the market square as the musical center, and further performances on Saturday evening and Sunday.
Combination with the "Ehrentag" 2026
A special feature of the 7th edition in 2026 is the combination with the nationwide "Ehrentag" (Day of Honour) on May 23rd – a day that honors the German constitution and volunteer work. In Holzminden, it will take place within the framework of the Big-Band Festival for the first time. This creates a Pentecost weekend that connects musical and social levels.

Program Structure 2026
The detailed program for 2026 (band names and setlists for Saturday evening performances, exact times for workshop sessions, Sunday program) will be published by the city of Holzminden and the Stadtmarketing Holzminden e.V. before the event. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years: picnic concert on Friday, workshop and results concert on Saturday, evening festival program on Saturday, and another concert on Sunday.
