Two-day beer festival on the village square of the International Museum of Mills
Mills and beer have been connected for centuries: no malt without mills, no beer without malt. The International Museum of Mills Gifhorn picks up on this connection with its two-day beer festival, creating an ambiance on the village square that merges the history of brewing and mill technology.
Regional breweries from the Gifhorn district and the wider region will present their products on the village square. Classic Pilsners, dark wheat beers, Bock beer specialties, and – depending on the lineup – craft beer producers will come together. Tastings, sales, and conversations with the brewers will shape the event.
Beer needs food: Bratwurst, Reibekuchen (potato pancakes), hearty dishes from Lower Saxon cuisine, and vegetarian alternatives will be offered. Live music – brass bands, folk, or Schlager music depending on the program – will accompany the festival. The village square, with its historic houses and the Russian Orthodox wooden church in the background, offers an extraordinary atmosphere.
Despite the focus on beer enjoyment, the festival is family-friendly. Children will find their own program with play opportunities on the museum grounds and can visit the museum with its mills. Non-alcoholic alternatives for adults are, of course, available.
The beer festival is part of the Mühlenmuseum's rich event calendar for 2026, which ranges from Pentecost and the beer festival to summer comedies and the classic car mile. This positions the museum not just as a technical monument, but as a vibrant event venue.
The combination of a beer festival and the Museum of Mills creates an atmosphere that no classic brewery festival can offer. Those who appreciate beer, traditions, and technical history equally will find themselves at home here.
The program will be published by the Mühlenmuseum shortly before the event and will include tasting opportunities, live music, and family activities.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the Mühlenmuseum. The structure follows the proven key points:
