Multicultural street festival on Bergerstraße in Frankfurt's Nordend
For over 25 years, the Berger Street Festival has been one of Frankfurt's largest and most popular street festivals. Every spring, it draws thousands of visitors from the entire Rhine-Main region to Berger Straße – the most important shopping street in Frankfurt's Nordend-Ost and Bornheim districts. The 2026 edition takes place on May 30 and 31.
The venue is Berger Straße between Bethmannpark (in the south, at Friedberger Anlage) and Höhenstraße (in the north, on the border with the Bornheim district) – a section of several kilometers. The adjacent restaurants, cafés, and bars set up tables and chairs on the street, which itself becomes a stage. International cuisine, Hessian classics like apple wine and Handkäs mit Musik, beer, cocktails in the evening, coffee and cake in the afternoon – gastronomically, the festival is a cross-section of the district's rich culinary scene.
Non-stop live music and a diverse cultural program take place on several stages along the street: Rock, Pop, Folk, Alternative, Hessian dialect acts. Particularly well-known is the Ponyhof stage at the corner of Mauerweg / Bergerstraße – a Frankfurt indie rock and metal club that moves its stage outdoors for the festival. For 2026, the Frankfurt band Miz Ery is confirmed, among others, who packages melancholic lyrics into danceable alternative rock tracks.
Nordend and Bornheim are considered Frankfurt's liveliest residential districts: many Gründerzeit buildings, a vibrant café and restaurant scene, cultural diversity with a high academic milieu. Berger Straße is the urban backbone of this neighborhood. At the street festival, Bornheim families, Nordend students, apple wine lovers from all over Frankfurt, and regional district festival tourists mingle.
During the day, the event is family-friendly with a dedicated children's program: craft stalls, hands-on activities, performances for children. In the evening, the mood shifts towards partying – cocktails, DJ sets, and concerts accompany the evening late into the night.
Bornheim bears the nickname "Lustig Bornheim" – due to its traditional tavern culture and lively apple wine scene. Berger Straße is the main axis of this district. The festival is an expression of this mix of Hessian down-to-earthness and urban diversity – a Frankfurt classic.
