Summer festival at Bederkesa Castle — 130 years of the Beautification Association — August 23, 2026
The Beerster Sommerfest is the joint summer event of the town of Geestland and its citizens in the historic spa town of Bad Bederkesa. It is the direct successor to the traditional lake festival (Seefest) that used to take place on Bederkesa Lake. The new format focuses on the town center around Bederkesa Castle and Amtsstraße, creating a compact, easily accessible festival mile.
The 2026 event is the 4th edition and will take place on Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. A concentrated afternoon of festivities to liven up the town and bring together families, associations, and guests.
A special highlight in 2026: The Bederkesa Beautification Association (Verschönerungsverein Bederkesa von 1896 e.V.) celebrates its 130th anniversary. Founded in the 19th century to design and enhance the spa town, the association is one of the oldest and most dedicated in the town. Its anniversary will mark the 2026 festival with a special program.
The Beerster Sommerfest is designed as an association festival: Local clubs, initiatives, and organizations from Bad Bederkesa and Geestland will present their work, organize stalls, offer culinary delights, and host hands-on activities. The registration deadline for associations is June 15, 2026. Contact: [email protected].
Bad Bederkesa is a historic spa town and one of the most beautiful districts of Geestland. Bederkesa Castle—a well-preserved 14th-century moated castle—is the town's landmark and now houses the Bederkesa Castle Museum. With its castle museum, Bederkesa Lake, spa park, and the historic Amtsstraße, the town offers an unusually concentrated mix of culture, nature, and history.
The detailed 2026 program will be published by the town of Geestland and the associations in the summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
Parking lot at the castle, Amtsstraße, Bad Bederkesa, 27624 Geestland. Via the A 27 (Bad Bederkesa exit). Parking facilities in the immediate vicinity.
Free admission. Association activities and food/drink are subject to charge.
Associations: Register by June 15, 2026, via [email protected]. Visitors: Combine your visit with a tour of the castle and a walk around Bederkesa Lake.
