12th edition of the town festival on the market square — music clubs, bands, and club catering
Since its relaunch in the 2010s, the Bad Urach Town Festival has established itself as the city's popular summer meeting point. The 12th edition in 2026 will take place on 25 and 26 July in the central Market Square, the historic heart of the Swabian Jura town. Unlike the region's large, commercial town festivals, the Bad Urach Town Festival is consciously a club festival — coordinated by the city's cultural department, supported by music clubs, sports clubs, and cultural initiatives.
On the festival stage in the center of the market square, music clubs, town bands, and bands will alternate on both days. The musical spectrum ranges from brass music (classic Swabian, march-style, and concert) to rock cover bands and jazz and pop acts. Around the square, club stands are set up: sports clubs offer crêpes and non-alcoholic drinks, the music club serves Pils and its own wine, the fire department and the Red Cross are also present, and the kindergarten sells cookies.
The Bad Urach Market Square is one of the most beautiful squares in the Swabian Jura: surrounded by historic half-timbered buildings from the 15th–17th centuries, with the late Gothic collegiate church of St. Amandus and the old town hall in the background. During the town festival, the outdoor seating of the restaurants is extended; the square can accommodate several hundred guests.
Bad Urach (approx. 12,500 inhabitants, Reutlingen district, postal code 08415) is located in a valley of the Swabian Jura. Known as a spa town with thermal springs and for its intact half-timbered old town; a tourist destination for the Urach Waterfall in the immediate vicinity and Hohenurach Castle. The town festival is one of the most important civic festivals of the summer — alongside the traditional Schäferlauf (shepherds' run, held every four years).
The 12th edition of the Bad Urach Town Festival once again offers the proven format on the Market Square: music clubs and bands on the central stage, club stands all around, catering by sports and cultural clubs, kindergarten groups, and church communities. The event thrives on the voluntary work of Bad Urach's citizens and the city's cultural department.
As always, the town festival also offers a good opportunity to discover the Swabian Jura town in the summer: the old town with its half-timbered houses and collegiate church, the thermal springs of the Albtherme, and the nearby Urach Waterfall are all easily accessible.
Free admission to the entire festival grounds. Food and drinks at club prices — proceeds go to the participating clubs.
Train: Ermstalbahn to Bad Urach, then a 10-minute walk to the Market Square. Connections in Metzingen from Stuttgart and Reutlingen.
Car: B28 to Bad Urach, parking available on the outskirts (Höhenpark and Volkspark) — city center will have restricted traffic during the festival.
Free admission to the Market Square and all events.
Combine your visit with a trip to the Albtherme Bad Urach thermal spa or a walk to the Urach Waterfall — the nearest major waterfall in the Swabian Jura is only 4 km from the Market Square.
