Spa Town Celebrates Itself

Bad Schwartau is a town in the district of Ostholstein in the state of Schleswig-Holstein — directly north of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck, with which it merges urbanistically. With its brine springs, it is a state-recognised spa town. Bad Schwartau is also known as the home of Schwartauer Werke — one of Germany's oldest jam manufacturers (founded in 1899). The Town and Family Festival combines urban and industrial tradition into a joint celebration.

Festival of Diversity

The festival has consciously positioned itself as a "Festival of Diversity" — social diversity, cultural diversity, gastronomic diversity. The programme reflects this claim:

• Stage programme on the market square — live bands from all genres (pop, cover, country, Schlager), dance performances by local clubs (VfL Bad Schwartau Ballet, Modern Dance, Children's Dance)
• Magic shows and show performances
• Culinary offerings — international and North German specialities, street food, ice cream, crêpes
• Family activities — play and craft stations for children
• Open-air church service to open the event (held in previous years)
• Country music acts in the evening (a regular feature in previous years)
• Meeting points with local clubs, initiatives, and advisory services

Schwartauer Werke as Co-organiser

Schwartauer Werke — known for jams, spreads, and honey — is a cooperation partner and shapes the festival. In 2024, the festival coincided with the 125th anniversary of Schwartauer Werke — an occasion that continues to shape the format beyond the anniversary.

Location between Lübeck and the Baltic Sea

Bad Schwartau is excellently connected — via the A1 motorway, the Hamburg–Lübeck railway line, and its direct proximity to Lübeck's old town. This makes the festival an event meeting point for the entire Lübeck region and for guests from the Baltic Sea tourist belt.
