16th Bad Dürkheim Vineyard Night – Open-air wine tasting in illuminated vineyards with over 100 wines from 29 wineries
The Bad Dürkheim Vineyard Night is a true spectacle: For two evenings in March, the vineyards around Bad Dürkheim are staged with light installations, torches, fairy lights, and spotlights. Paths and vines are illuminated, viewpoints become stages, and tasting stations are set up at strategic locations. The nocturnal atmosphere lends a sensual dimension to the wine tasting that cannot be achieved in normal daylight. Wine, stars, lights, and the warm spring evenings combine to create a unique experience.
At various tasting stations in the vineyards, 29 Palatinate wineries present over 100 different wines. The focus is on the region's premium wines: dry Rieslings, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, sparkling wine creations, and rare specialties. The diversity allows visitors to gain a comprehensive impression of the Palatinate's top wine scene over the course of the evening and to compare styles directly.
Unlike traditional wine tastings with fixed tasting tables, the Vineyard Night operates on a stroll wristband system. Visitors purchase a wristband at the entrance, granting them access to the entire vineyard area. The accompanying wine pass includes 15 tastings of 0.05 liters each. This concept allows visitors to wander freely between stations, discover what appeals to them most, and find an organic rhythm between wine, walking, and lingering.
The Vineyard Night traditionally falls during the early phase of the Palatinate almond blossom – the spectacular pink and white bloom of the almond trees that transforms the Palatinate into a blooming wonder in March. The Vineyard Night thus marks the festive start of the almond blossom season and the wine festival season. The town of Bad Dürkheim skillfully combines both themes into a tourist highlight of the spring calendar.
The wine passes for 2026 went on sale in August 2025, and demand was high – an indication of the event's popularity. Those who wish to experience the 2026 Vineyard Night should secure their passes early.
