Museum Night + Stage Day – 70 cultural venues in one weekend
The Art:walk Festival is the new edition and expansion of Düsseldorf's traditional Museum Night. Instead of a single evening, there are now two days – one evening for the museums, one day for the stages. More than 70 cultural institutions from the state capital are participating. The city's aim: to make Düsseldorf's cultural DNA visible and accessible for a whole weekend.
On Saturday evening from 4 PM to midnight, the major institutions and collections will present special programs: Kunstpalast (Ehrenhof), NRW-Forum, K20 and K21 of the Kunstsammlung NRW, KIT – Kunst im Tunnel, Theatermuseum, SchifffahrtMuseum, Aquazoo Löbbecke Museum. Smaller venues like the Weltkunstzimmer, the Künstlerverein Malkasten, and the Goethe-Museum are also participating. At Kunstpalast, for example, DJ Manu will spin vinyl with 1960s Italian music and Italo-Disco starting at 6:30 PM in the ERGO Foyer, and indie-pop artist _ruka_ will perform at the Belvedere at 9 PM.
On Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM, the entire city becomes a performance space. Eleven outdoor performance spots are spread across several city districts:
The ticket includes public transport use throughout the entire VRR transport network as well as the free Art:walk shuttle buses between venues. This logistically eases the distribution of program points across the city center – you can switch between Ehrenhof, Hofgarten, Altstadt, and Worringer Platz at any time without your own car and without buying additional tickets.
To avoid feeling overwhelmed by 70+ locations, the festival offers curated routes: for "Art Explorers," "Night Owls," families, or stage fans. Route plans are available via the website and on-site at the tourist information centers.
With 620,000 inhabitants, Düsseldorf is the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia and a center of Germany's art scene – from the pull of the Academy around Beuys and Richter to the international gallery scene at Mutter-Ey-Platz and in the Carlstadt. The Art:walk Festival positions the city as a cultural destination for the Pentecost weekend in 2026.
The first edition of the Art:walk Festival replaces the classic Museum Night and expands it into a two-day format. Over 70 Düsseldorf cultural institutions are participating – from the major venues at Ehrenhof to the independent scene in Bilk and Worringer Platz.
