Local Artists, Sculpture, and Music Directly on the Baltic Sea
Eckernförde is a town of around 22,000 inhabitants in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, located on the Baltic Sea bay of the same name. The town combines a historic old town, vibrant harbor culture, and a distinct art and craft scene — Eckernförde is considered one of Schleswig-Holstein's most attractive Baltic seaside resorts.
The Kurpark Eckernförde is located directly by the sea and is one of the town's highlights: well-kept flowerbeds, old trees, sculptures, and paths form a green space between the beach and the town center. It is precisely this setting that the Art and Culture Festival utilizes, organized by Eckernförde Touristik und Marketing GmbH together with Jutta Kreuziger and artist Katrin Peifer.
The 6th edition is scheduled for September 4th to 6th, 2026. Around 30 artists from Eckernförde and the region will showcase their works — and the spectrum is broad:
What distinguishes the festival from a classic art market: many artists work live on-site on their creations — woodcarvers, jewelers, ceramicists, or painters. Visitors can observe the creative process, ask questions, and sometimes even lend a hand.
Art is accompanied by live music on a small stage in the Kurpark. In past editions, bands like Hands ’n’ Wood Electrified and The Bright Side have performed on stage — ranging from folk to rock to contemporary sounds. A literary reading by author Kerstin Busching adds a word-based component to the program.
From September 4th to 6th, 2026, the 6th Art and Culture Festival in Eckernförde's Kurpark will take place. Around 30 artists from Eckernförde and the region transform the green space right by the sea into an open-air gallery.
The program combines visual arts with live music, literature, and culinary delights. The event is organized by Eckernförde Touristik und Marketing GmbH together with Jutta Kreuziger and artist Katrin Peifer.
