Arminis Summer Festival — the family event of the East Westphalian football family
When DSC Arminia Bielefeld opens the gates of its SchücoArena to families, thousands come: The Arminis Summer Festival is one of the largest family festivals in East Westphalia-Lippe. On Thursday, May 14, 2026, the traditional club invites you to the stadium surroundings at Melanchthonstraße from 12 PM to 5 PM with free admission — transforming the grey Bundesliga stadium into a giant family playground with around 10,000 expected visitors.
The Program — Play, Bounce, Climb
The concept is clear: All activities are free, and the program is tailored for families with children of all ages:
- Bouncy castles in various sizes and shapes
- Aqua balls — giant water spheres in which children can walk on water
- Summer toboggan run — fast descent on a temporary track
- Climbing park — safe climbing wall with belay system
- Face painting — butterflies, football fan designs, tiger faces
- Button machine — create your own badges
- Trampolines and bungee jumping
- Craft stations for the youngest visitors
Live Program — Randale, Chilli Kitten, Circus Karibu, and Philharmonic Orchestra
Throughout the day, four acts will provide stage atmosphere:
- Children's band Randale — the Bielefeld city musicians play their energetic children's program with "Wir tanzen wie die Affen" (We Dance Like Monkeys) and other hits
- Dance show Chilli Kitten — dance school with young dancers from Bielefeld, hip-hop, and show dance
- Acrobatics Circus Karibu — acrobatics school with children and teenagers, high chair acrobatics, and juggling
- Brass players of the Bielefeld Philharmonic Orchestra — classical music in a family format, familiar tunes from Mozart to film scores
Highlight — Autograph Session with the Arminia Pros
The undisputed highlight of the summer festival: The exclusive autograph session with the players of DSC Arminia Bielefeld, taking place from 3 PM to 4 PM on the stadium pitch. Young fans can get their jerseys, balls, and photos signed, chat with the pros, and take souvenir photos. For Arminia fans from East Westphalia, it's the most emotional experience of the year beyond match days.
Flea Market on the East Stand
Additionally, a flea market will take place on the East Stand — here, fans can buy Arminia memorabilia, used jerseys, program booklets, scarves, and collector's items. Spontaneous bargains for the collector community are guaranteed.
DSC Arminia Bielefeld — East Westphalian Football Heart
DSC Arminia Bielefeld (Deutscher Sport-Club Arminia Bielefeld e.V., founded 1905) is the most important football club in East Westphalia. With its home ground, the SchücoArena (26,515 seats), it offers a professional football experience in the heart of the region. Sportingly, Arminia has oscillated between the Bundesliga, 2. Bundesliga, and 3. Liga in recent decades; the summer festival is the club's most important non-sporting family event and strengthens the bond between East Westphalian fans and their club.
Bielefeld — The Secret Capital of East Westphalia
The independent city of Bielefeld, with its approximately 335,000 inhabitants, is the economic and cultural center of East Westphalia-Lippe. Known for the University of Bielefeld (with its famous reinforced concrete architecture), the Sparrenburg as a landmark above the city, the Bethel Foundation (one of Germany's largest diaconal institutions), and of course the famous "Bielefeld doesn't exist" internet phenomenon. Family festivals, the Leineweber Market, the City Festival, and the Sparrenburg Festival shape the event calendar; Arminis Summer Festival is among the city's largest family events.
