Punk Rock in Ammerland

Since 2014, the APEN AIR Festival has become a firm fixture in the Northern German punk rock scene. The organizer is APEN AIR GbR, which brings the festival to life with the dedication of 99 volunteers. The venue is the festival grounds at Zur Festung 16 in Apen.

10th Anniversary Edition on August 29, 2026

The 2026 edition marks the 10th anniversary — a milestone that the organizers are approaching with a particularly strong lineup. The date is Saturday, August 29, 2026. Two stages, over 25 bands, a day full of punk rock, hardcore, ska-punk, and melodic hardcore sounds.

Organization and Shuttle

The festival's organization is geared towards its fans: 4 shuttle routes connect Apen with Westerstede, Edewecht, Augustfehn, and Bad Zwischenahn — those without their own vehicle are well catered for. Camping facilities and a continuous food service area ensure the necessary comfort.

Apen is a municipality of 12,000 inhabitants in western Ammerland. The fact that a festival of this quality takes place here is thanks to the energy of the club structures — APEN AIR is proof that punk rock not only survives but thrives in the village.
