Streetfood Festival, Gourmet Market and Oldtimer Meet in Ansbach City Centre
The Ansbacher Mess' – Food & Feines is a three-part spring festival in the Middle Franconian district capital of Ansbach. The programme is spread across three central squares in the city centre:
Over 20 food concepts gather on the historic Reitbahn, organised by LOKALSPIESSER GbR. The culinary spectrum ranges from sweet churros to hearty Leberkäsdöner – a Franconian-international mix that captures the character of modern streetfood festivals.
On Karl-Burkhardt-Platz, regional manufacturers, farm shops, and small producers present their products: Franconian bratwurst, smoked goods, regional cheeses, honey, organic baked goods, and specialities from the Aurach and Frankenhöhe valleys.
Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Platz transforms into a wine and delicacies village. Bands play live in the evenings, guests mingle at standing tables, raising their wine glasses – a touch of Mediterranean atmosphere in the Franconian urban space.
On Sunday (May 3rd, 2026), the Oldtimer-Freunde Ansbach (Ansbach Vintage Car Friends) are organising a classic car meet. Historic vehicles, Mercedes Pagodas, VW Beetles, and French classics will be on display in the city centre.
Sunday from 1 PM to 6 PM is verkaufsoffener Sonntag (late-night shopping) – the shops in Ansbach's Old Town are open. This makes Sunday at the Ansbacher Mess' a family event that combines enjoyment, shopping, and culture.
Ansbach is the district capital of Middle Franconia, the former residence of the Margraves of Brandenburg-Ansbach. The town in the Ansbach district has a long tradition of *Mess'* (fair) events – spring and autumn markets with a Volksfest character. The Ansbacher Mess' Food & Feines, held in its current format since 2021, is the contemporary evolution of this tradition, focusing on street food and regional culinary delights.
The 2026 edition is the 9th edition according to the streetfood festival count, and the 6th edition of the combined "Food & Feines" concept. Organisers include the City of Ansbach (Culture & Tourism with Mayor Thomas Deffner and Cultural Officer Nadja Wilhelm), LOKALSPIESSER GbR for the streetfood section, and the Oldtimer-Freunde Ansbach for the Sunday car meet.
Bouncy castles, face painting, bungee trampolines, a historic carousel, and a puppet theatre await children and families at several stations.
On Sunday, the leisure mile of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region will also be present at Bach-Platz with interactive activities, sports offerings, and tourism information stands.
Detailed programme and list of participating food trucks: streetfood-ansbach.de and on the city's website.
Ansbach Central Station is on the Nuremberg–Stuttgart line, reachable from Nuremberg in 40 minutes. From the station to the Reitbahn is approx. a 10-minute walk. By car: A6 (Ansbach exit), multi-storey car parks in the Old Town.
Free admission. Food and drinks available on-site at the stalls.
Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, from 1 PM to 6 PM, the shops in the city centre are open.
