Medieval folk-rock by the band Versengold in the Roman Amphitheatre Trier on July 24, 2026
Versengold have been a fixture in the German medieval and folk-rock scene since their formation in Bremen in 2003. With a lineup of electric guitar, bass, drums, violin, bagpipes, accordion, mandolin, and multi-part vocals, they blend historical themes and modern topics into a distinctive sound that bridges the atmosphere of a medieval market with powerful folk-rock.
Albums like 'Was kost' die Welt' (2017), 'Im Namen des Folkes' (2019), and 'Funkenflug' (2021) have propelled the band into the top tier of German-language folk bands. Their live shows are among the most convivial and party-ready concerts in the scene – singalongs, swaying, and dancing are all part of the program.
The Amphitheater Trier – part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 1986 – a Roman structure built in the 2nd century AD, offers a particularly atmospheric backdrop for a Versengold concert. The oval arena and the ancient tiers create an almost theatrical ambiance that perfectly complements songs about knights, tavern nights, and social observations.
The concert is part of the Amphitheater Open Air Trier 2026 series (July 17-26), which is reactivating the ancient structure on Petrisberg after a three-year break. The organizer is Popp Concerts. Tickets are available through the usual advance booking channels.
The Trier performance fits into Versengold's tour schedule. Due to the band's loyal fan base and Trier's central location in the tri-border area, a full amphitheater is expected.
The ancient architecture of the amphitheater provides an atmospheric backdrop that harmonizes appealingly with the historical references in many of Versengold's songs.
The exact program for 2026 will be communicated by the organizer in advance. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
