A Tradition Since 1364
On September 13, 1364, Elector Ruprecht I granted the citizens of Amberg three "Dulten" and annual fairs – the first market began on the evening of Whit Sunday. This tradition, over 650 years old, lives on today in the Amberger Pfingst-Dult, a modern folk festival that not only preserves but celebrates its historical heritage. The "Dult" takes place twice a year: at Pentecost and in autumn for Michaeli.
Beer Tent, Festival Beer, and Rides
In the large beer tent, the Gschrey family of hosts serves the popular Amberger Festbier. Live music and a traditional atmosphere ensure lively evenings. On the festival grounds, modern and classic rides are lined up, complemented by numerous market and snack stalls offering goods and delicacies.
Fireworks as a Highlight
A special highlight is the two large fireworks displays: one for the opening on the first Friday evening and another on the second Friday, both around 10 p.m. They attract visitors from all over the Upper Palatinate and are among the most famous sights of the Amberger Dult. The festival appeals to all generations – from families with children to fans of traditional folk festivals.
