Alzeyer Street Food Festival

The Alzeyer Street Food Festival is a relatively young, but quickly established event in the city centre of the Volkerstadt. The organiser is the City of Alzey in cooperation with the supra-regional provider street-food-market.de, which organises similar festivals nationwide.

Four Days of Culinary Delights on Pentecost Weekend

With its four festival days from Friday to Pentecost Monday (in the 2026 edition from May 22nd to 25th), the festival offers plenty of time for strolling, tasting, and enjoying. The daily opening hours from 12 noon to 8 pm cover lunch, afternoon coffee, and dinner.

International Variety

The concept is international street food variety. Food trucks and stalls from Germany and abroad present a colourful palette: burgers, pulled pork, and fries represent the American school, tacos and quesadillas the Mexican, sushi and bao the Asian, falafel and mezze the Arabic, paella and tapas the Spanish. Vegan and vegetarian stalls are also regularly prominently represented.

Walking Acts and Street Artists

In addition to the culinary offerings, walking acts, street artists, and live music create a festival atmosphere. Stilt walkers, musicians, mimes, and artists entertain along the festival mile, creating moments of surprise.

City Centre Revitalisation

Beyond the festival component, the Street Food Festival is an important instrument for revitalising Alzey's city centre. Visitors often come from the entire Rhine-Main region and Rheinhessen, rediscovering the city with its historic squares, the castle, and the pedestrian zone.

Pentecost as the Ideal Date

The Pentecost weekend is ideal as a date: an extended weekend, usually mild weather, and the start of the open-air season. The Street Food Festival thus symbolically opens the festival season in Alzey's city centre every year.
