About Altstadtfest Jever

The Jever Old Town Festival celebrates its 50th anniversary from August 7th to 9th, 2026, transforming the historic old town of the Marienstadt into a gigantic folk festival for three days. The festival opens on Friday from 6 PM at the Alter Markt. Six stages, amusement rides, a Ferris wheel, market stalls, food trucks, and the long-awaited return of the Vereinsmeile (club mile) on Wangerstraße make this edition a very special event. The club mile was a permanent fixture for years and is being specially revitalized for the 50th anniversary. Several tens of thousands of visitors are expected over the three festival days; the atmosphere in the old town, characterized by the famous brewery and castle, is warm, Frisian, and inviting. 50 Years of Jever Old Town Festival

What began as a town festival in 1976 is now one of the largest and most popular folk festivals in Lower Saxony. The 50th anniversary in 2026 will be celebrated with special efforts: Six stages, amusement rides, a Ferris wheel, and the return of the traditional Vereinsmeile (club mile) on Wangerstraße form the program.

Opening on Friday

On Friday, August 7, 2026, the festival will open at 6 PM at the Alter Markt. With welcoming speeches, the cutting of the first anniversary festival cake, and an initial stage concert, the grand weekend begins.

Six Stages in the Old Town

The city distributes six stages throughout the old town, allowing visitors to stroll from one musical experience to the next. The spectrum ranges from rock and pop to Schlager and folk, as well as maritime music and brass sets – there's something for every taste.

Return of the Club Mile

For the anniversary, the legendary Vereinsmeile (club mile) returns to Wangerstraße. Here, sports, cultural, and traditional clubs from Jever and the surrounding area present themselves, offer tasting and participation opportunities, and contribute the social diversity of the city to the festival.

Amusement Rides and Ferris Wheel

Classic amusement rides and a Ferris wheel ensure family fun. From the observation ride, there is a beautiful view over the Marienstadt with its castle tower and brewery.

Free Admission

Admission is free. This makes the Old Town Festival an important, accessible town festival that invites all social groups.
