The region's largest pub music festival on the eve of the Day of German Unity
The Altstadt-Live concept has been proven since the 1990s: one evening, one wristband, thirteen locations. The October edition benefits from the public holiday on the following day: those who can go out without having to get up early the next morning stay longer, hear more bands, and celebrate more exuberantly. Thus, the October edition is traditionally the better attended and more atmospheric of the two festivals.
The participating venues range from traditional local pubs and trendy bars to the Lagerhalle as a cultural heavyweight. All styles are represented: Rock and Pop, Singer-Songwriter, Soul, Funk, Jazz, Folk, electronic sets, and cover bands. Each venue chooses its own program – thus creating a diversity that is unique in Osnabrück.
The festival is free of charge. Wristbands are issued on the evening of the event at the participating venues and allow for easy switching between concerts. Food and drinks in the venues are available at regular prices.
Altstadt Live is more than a concert series – it is a city festival in concert form. Osnabrück's Old Town, with its narrow alleys, historic buildings, and lively gastronomy, becomes the stage. Young adults, families, and older regulars mingle. If you're lucky, you might discover a band in a small pub that will soon be playing in larger venues.
The Easter edition has a festive spring character, while the October edition benefits from the holiday mood and the anticipation of the autumn advent season. Both attract the same loyal audience but complement each other atmospherically.
The October edition 2026 benefits from the public holiday on the following day – celebrations traditionally last longer and are more exuberant. Lagerhalle serves as the main venue, complemented by twelve other locations in the Old Town.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in late summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
