Premiere festival of the Deidesheim Winzerverein as part of the Palatinate Almond Weeks with spring wines and almond specialties
When the first almond trees bloom on the German Wine Route from mid-February, the festival season begins for the Palatinate. The Palatinate Almond Weeks — from February 21 to April 6, 2026 — bundle dozens of smaller and larger events along the Wine Route: Almond Blossom Festivals, hikes, tastings, and traditional events. In the midst of it all: the new Almond Blossom Festival of the Winzerverein Deidesheim, celebrating its premiere in 2026.
The venue is Prinz-Rupprecht-Straße 8 — the headquarters of the Winzerverein Deidesheim eG, one of the traditional cooperatives of the Mittelhaardt. The Small Vinotheque and the courtyard will be transformed into a wine tasting area. The focus is on the young, fresh wines of the current vintage — Rieslings with lively acidity, mineral Pinot Blanc, fruity rosé wines, and sparkling wine from their own production. The cooperative's trained staff will explain the vineyards and make recommendations.
In keeping with the theme, almond-inspired dishes will be served: almond quiches, almond-baked pastries, marzipan cookies, along with classic Palatinate snacks like Saumagen pralines, tarte flambée with almonds and pears, and hearty tartes. The combination of Mediterranean-looking almond blossoms, fresh spring wines, and creative cuisine is what makes the festival so appealing.
Unlike the large wine festivals of the Mittelhaardt, the Almond Blossom Festival of the Winzerverein is a comparatively intimate format. The courtyard offers manageable rows of tables, and the vinotheque is cozy and designed for conversation. Those who want to enjoy the Palatinate spring in peace — far from the hustle and bustle of the later summer festivals — will find the ideal place here.
With its premiere in 2026, the Winzerverein Deidesheim is starting a new tradition: an Almond Blossom Festival as a relaxed spring tasting in a cooperative setting. Over five days, the Small Vinotheque and the courtyard will be the venue for wine presentations, tastings, and almond-inspired dishes.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the Winzerverein on its own website before the festival begins. The structure follows typical Almond Weeks formats from other Palatinate wine towns: daytime tasting in a relaxed atmosphere, evening musical accompaniment, and themed culinary offerings.
Specific program items, participating vintners, and special promotions will be announced by the Winzerverein Deidesheim before the festival begins.
