Tip
Arrive early — the best display spots are taken by mid-morning. Combine your visit with a stroll through the old town and a detour to St. Moritz Church.
Mittenwalde — the Salt Town in Dahme-Spreewald
Mittenwalde is one of Brandenburg's oldest towns — granted town rights as early as 1316 — and is located in the Dahme-Spreewald district, about 30 km southeast of Berlin. The medieval town center with the Gothic St. Moritz Church, the town wall, and the Salzmarkt recalls the town's importance as a trading post on the former salt route. It is precisely this Salzmarkt that will once again transform into a stage for historic vehicles on August 1, 2026 — for the 21st Oldtimer Meeting.
Classics on the Market Square
For 21 years, the Oldtimer Meeting Mittenwalde has been a magnet for collectors, mechanics, and fans of automotive history from Berlin, Brandenburg, and Saxony. Owners present their classics on the Salzmarkt — from pre-war convertibles and East German Trabbis and Wartburgs to Western classic cars from the 70s and 80s. Motorcycles and small commercial vehicles are also regularly featured. The atmosphere is familial and open — anyone with questions can chat directly with the owners.
Program — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The meet runs from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Classic cars start rolling onto the Salzmarkt in the morning, presented in rows in front of the historic building facades. Accompanying this will be music (typically oldies, rock'n'roll, Schlager from the 60s and 70s) and regional gastronomy — grilled bratwurst, cake, coffee, Brandenburg specialties. The organizer is the Friends of the Mittenwalde Volunteer Fire Brigade, who support the association's work with the proceeds.
Dahme-Spreewald — Combine with Visits
Anyone visiting the Oldtimer Meeting can spend the day in the region: take a walk through Mittenwalde's old town with St. Moritz Church and the town wall, take an excursion to nearby Königs Wusterhausen with its baroque hunting lodge, or head further south to the Spreewald region to Lübben or Lübbenau. The A13 motorway (Berlin–Dresden) makes Mittenwalde easily accessible by car — and the market itself is car-friendly (which is particularly practical for a classic car meet).
Tradition for 21 Years
The Oldtimer Meeting Mittenwalde is one of the fixed summer dates in the southern Berlin area. Free admission — those who wish to present a classic car can contact Yvonne Glaschke from the Friends association directly ([email protected], Tel. 0170/5391003). An event that exemplifies the community and volunteer commitment of Brandenburg's fire brigades — and at the same time celebrates the love of automotive history.
