Traditional Schützenfest in Rehburg-Loccum with parade and breakfasts of the marksmen's companies
The town of Rehburg-Loccum is located in the southwestern district of Nienburg/Weser, near the Rehburg Hills, and is historically shaped by two focal points: the Loccum Monastery, one of the most important Evangelical Lutheran monasteries in Northern Germany, and the former spa town of Rehburg. This mix of spiritual tradition, spa culture, and rural-bourgeois club life continues to shape the social life of the town to this day.
The marksmen's clubs of Rehburg are an integral part of club life. Unlike many village festivals, the Rehburg festival is characterized by a special tradition: the parade of the individual marksmen's companies at the beginning of the festival Sunday. The companies march from the town center to their respective meeting places, where the Rottfrühstücke are then held.
The Rottfrühstücke are breakfast gatherings of the individual marksmen's companies (Rotten), where club families come together, eat, and get into the mood for the main festival. This tradition underscores the communal and intimate character of the Rehburg festival, distinguishing it from purely public folk festivals.
Monday features the actual main festival with a grand parade of all marksmen's companies through Rehburg, the central king shooting competition, and the proclamation of the dignitaries. In the evening, there is a dance event with a live band or DJ in the festival tent.
The Schützenfest Rehburg is one of the most traditional festivals in the southwestern part of the Nienburg district and brings together friendly clubs from the town, the Steinhuder Meer municipality, and neighboring communities in the Schaumburg district. It is an important social date in the region's event calendar.
The marksmen's clubs will publish the detailed 2026 program with times in advance on nienburg-online.de and via local announcements.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
