A rustic Bavarian traditional costume festival in the beech forest near Schaftlach
The Waldfest of the Trachtenverein Schaftlach-Piesenkam is a traditional Upper Bavarian summer festival held in the beech forest near the Schaftlach sports center. The Trachtenverein Schaftlach-Piesenkam hosts the festival annually in the Schaftlach district of the municipality of Waakirchen in the Miesbach district – right in the middle of the forest, far from large festival halls.
The Waldfest thrives on living Bavarian customs: Schuhplattler and folk dances by the traditional costume group, Goasslschnalzer, and traditional music shape the program. In addition, there is a bar, hearty snacks, as well as coffee and cake. The appeal lies in the familiar, relaxed atmosphere and the special ambiance under the old trees.
While many major events attract visitors around Lake Tegernsee, the Schaftlach Waldfest consciously focuses on the charm of warm summer evenings in the beech forest and an authentic, regional character. It is a festival by locals for locals and guests, which preserves the traditional costume culture of the region.
Schaftlach belongs to the municipality of Waakirchen in the Miesbach district of Upper Bavaria, on the edge of the Tegernsee-Schliersee area. The Trachtenverein Schaftlach-Piesenkam is one of the tradition-conscious clubs in the region.
