Traditional autumn market and All Saints' fair in the center of Bakum with stalls, rides, music, and barrel tapping
The Allerheiligenmarkt Bakum is one of the most traditional autumn fairs in the Vechta district. Its name derives from the Catholic holiday of All Saints' Day (November 1st), which is traditionally celebrated as a day of remembrance and celebration in the Oldenburg Münsterland. The combination of a religious occasion and a secular market is typical for the ultra-Catholic region between Damme, Vechta, Bakum, and Lohne.
From Saturday to Monday around All Saints' Day, rides, food and candy stalls, and market booths characterize the Bakum town center. Showmen businesses from northwestern Lower Saxony provide carousels, game stalls, shooting ranges, and smaller large rides. Food stalls with bratwurst, fries, crêpes, potato pancakes, and candied almonds are as much a staple as stands with regional specialties.
A typical program item is the barrel tapping by a representative of the Bakum municipality, who officially opens the market. The Musikverein Bakum traditionally accompanies the festivities with stage performances and marching music. In the evenings, the festival tent with catering fills up – an opportunity to meet friends and club colleagues from the surrounding villages.
The Allerheiligenmarkt falls at the end of the market season in the Oldenburg Münsterland. After the Räubermarkt Damme and the Pferdemarkt Ovelgönne, it is one of the last major folk festival dates before the start of Advent. For many families from Bakum and the surrounding area, visiting is an integral part of the year.
Market entry is free. Rides, food, and drinks are paid for on-site at the stalls. The event is jointly supported by the municipality, showmen, and local clubs.
The 2026 edition of the Allerheiligenmarkt Bakum brings the traditional autumn market back to the town center around the All Saints' Day holiday. Showmen from northwestern Lower Saxony provide carousels and large rides, complemented by food, candy, and market stalls.
The opening on Saturday features the traditional barrel tapping, and the festival tent operation with catering by the municipality and local clubs characterizes the evenings. The Musikverein Bakum provides the musical accompaniment.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the municipality of Bakum in the autumn. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
