About Adventszauber Rinteln

The Adventszauber Rinteln transforms the historic old town of the Weser city into a festively illuminated Christmas backdrop from November 27, 2026. Stalls with mulled wine, regional specialties, arts and crafts, and gift ideas line the area around the market square and in the adjacent alleys. The half-timbered facades of the old town, the historic town hall, and St. Nikolai Church form a backdrop that is perfect for the atmosphere of the Advent season. Families will find a varied program at the Adventszauber with a carousel, performances by local choirs, visits from St. Nicholas, and musical highlights on the Advent weekends. The event is a fixture of the Christmas season in Lower Saxony.

Christmas spirit in the Weser city

Rinteln is one of Lower Saxony's most beautiful half-timbered towns, and it's precisely this setting that makes the Adventszauber a special experience every year. The historic houses on the market square, the Renaissance town hall, and St. Nikolai Church provide a backdrop that modern Christmas markets in new developments cannot match. When the fairy lights twinkle and the market stalls are open, an atmosphere is created that draws many visitors from across the Weser Uplands to Rinteln.

Offerings at the market

At the stalls, visitors will find everything that belongs to a traditional Christmas market: mulled wine and punch, regional specialties such as smoked sausage and smoked fish, crêpes and potato pancakes, candied almonds, and sweet temptations. In addition, craftspeople from the Weser Uplands and beyond present their work: ceramics, woodwork, felt, jewelry, candles, and individual gift ideas.

Program on Advent weekends

On Advent weekends, the Adventszauber offers a diverse stage program. Choirs from the region, brass bands, music associations, and soloists provide musical hours, St. Nicholas visits the market, and a carousel brings joy to children. Highlights include the opening event and the grand family program on the four weekends before Christmas.

Pro Rinteln as organizer

Behind the Adventszauber is Pro Rinteln e.V., which coordinates the events in the old town. With the Adventszauber, the Maimesse, the Herbstmesse, the Weintage, and the Brennholz- und Bauernmarkt, the association has created a cycle of festivals that enlivens Rinteln's city center throughout the year.

Adventszauber Rinteln — edition 2026

The Adventszauber Rinteln 2026 opens on Friday, November 27, 2026, in the old town of the Weser city. Around the historic market square, visitors can expect market stalls with mulled wine, regional specialties, and arts and crafts. The festively illuminated half-timbered facades provide the backdrop for a program of music, choirs, family activities, and atmospheric Advent weekends. Admission is free. The Adventszauber is organized by Pro Rinteln e.V. and is one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in the Weser Uplands.

The 2026 edition of Adventszauber Rinteln builds on the success of previous years. The organizing group Pro Rinteln is again planning a market with a high proportion of arts and crafts and regional gastronomy. The opening ceremony will take place as usual on the first Friday evening, followed by four Advent weekends with a stage program.

The market vendors are carefully selected; many have been returning for years and are familiar to regular visitors. In addition, each season brings new exhibitors, keeping the mix vibrant.
