A Farm Estate in the Middle of Berlin

The Domäne Dahlem is located in the Dahlem district, Steglitz-Zehlendorf, and is one of Berlin's last remaining farm complexes. The first documented mentions date back to the 13th century, and the manor house dates from the 16th century. Today, a foundation operates an open-air museum for agriculture and nutrition, an ecological educational farm, and an organic marketplace with regular events here.

Four Sundays, One Concept

The Domäne's Advent market deliberately differs from the typical Christmas market format: instead of mulled wine stalls and fairy lights, the focus is on arts and crafts, organic producers, ecological gift ideas, and children's activities. On each of the four Sundays of Advent, the grounds are open from 11 am to 7 pm. The historic farmyard features stalls with handmade jewelry, ceramics, textiles, wooden toys, regional organic foods, honey, oils, game products, and sustainable gift items. In the stable, there's a tractor ride for children, and the workshops offer hands-on activities.

Family Program and Atmosphere

For many Berlin families, the market is a firm Advent tradition. Unlike the large tourist markets, there is plenty of space here, no crowding, and the whole thing has a distinctly rural character — sheep and pigs are not far away, haystacks and stables shape the scenery. Those with children can easily combine a visit to the market with the open-air museum. The Domäne is located directly at the Dahlem-Dorf U-Bahn station (U3) — accordingly well accessible and heavily frequented on Advent Sundays.
