The Prunksitzung of the Alzeyer Carneval Gesellschaft (ACG) is one of the most traditional Carnival sessions in Rheinhessen. The venue is the Stadthalle Alzey, which, with its spacious hall, stage technology, and seating, offers the ideal setting for a classic Carnival session.
7:11 PM – Carnival Protocol
As dictated by carnival protocol, the session begins at 7:11 PM. Admission is usually granted from 6 PM, allowing guests to take their seats at leisure, enjoy catering, and savor the anticipation of the evening.
Classic Session Dramaturgy
The program follows classic session dramaturgy: entry of the Elferrat (council of eleven), opening by the session president, welcome of the Carnival royalty, several speeches (Bütt), performances by the club's own or guest dance troupes, show dances, musical interludes, and sing-along segments. Between program items, breaks provide catering and dance music.
Embedded in the Fastnachtszirkus
The ACG Prunksitzung is part of a comprehensive Carnival program that the ACG stages under the title "Fastnachtszirkus Alzey" (Carnival Circus Alzey) in the Ostdeutsche Straße parking lot: Altweiber event on Thursday, February 12th, ZirkusZauber on Saturday, February 14th, and ZugParty on Sunday, February 15th (following the Carnival parade). With this dense program structure, the ACG is one of the most active Carnival societies in the region.
Club Life and Stage Tradition
Behind the session is a vibrant club life with numerous dance troupes, a male dance group (Männerballett), solo dancers (Solomarines), male and female speakers (Büttenrednerinnen und -redner), and show dance groups. Over the years, the ACG has built up a consistently high quality in its stage productions and enjoys a corresponding reputation in Rheinhessen.
