Abendlauf Salzgittersee at the Seesause

Running Experience by the Lake

The Salzgittersee, with a circumference of approximately 5.4 kilometers, is one of the most attractive running locations in southern Lower Saxony. The circular path is fully asphalted, flat, well-lit, and particularly atmospheric on summer evenings. On the initiative of the Triathlon department of SV Glück Auf Gebhardshagen, the idea of an evening run was born, taking place on the opening evening of the Seesause, thus combining sport, festival, and summer ambiance.

Date and Route 2026

On Friday, August 21, 2026, at 9 PM, the start will take place at Café del Lago in Reppnersche Bucht. Two distances are offered:

• 5.4 km – one full lap of the lake, ideal for beginners, students, and walkers
• 10.8 km – two laps of the lake, for ambitious runners and club athletes

Both routes are flat, asphalted, and lined with fairy lights in the twilight. The route is accompanied by marshals and refreshment stations.

Participation Conditions

• Eligible to participate from age 12
• No club membership required – open to all
• Advance registration via abendlauf-salzgitter.de
• Late registration until 8:30 PM directly at the start area (Café del Lago)
• Race bib with timing chip
• Certificate and commemorative medal at the finish

Integrated into the Seesause

The run is part of the large Salzgittersee weekend from August 22 to 24, 2026: the Seesause festival with acrobatics, water sports, stage program, and family festivities. Those who don't go home after the run will find the start of the Seesause around Reppnersche Bucht – with food stalls, drinks, music, and the emerging festival atmosphere.
