Frömmstedt — 900 Years of History in the Foothills of the Kyffhäuser District
Frömmstedt is a district of the rural municipality Kindelbrück in the Sömmerda district (state of Thuringia). The first documented mentions date back to the 11th century (1084/1088 as "Fruminstetin" in a chronicle of the Lorsch Abbey) — however, the more precise dating comes from the year 1126, when Countess Kunigunde von Beichlingen transferred 20.5 hides of land to the Oldisleben monastery. This document was the basis for the 875th anniversary celebration in 2001 — and in 2026, it forms the foundation for the grand 900th-anniversary jubilee.
The Village and its Community
Frömmstedt currently has around 600 inhabitants and belongs to the rural municipality Kindelbrück in the southern foothills of the Kyffhäuser district. The village community is active: the fire department, sports club, church community, local history association, and carnival club shape social life. The 2026 anniversary festival is jointly supported by all these associations.
Four Days of Celebration — June 4th to 7th, 2026
The anniversary festival spans four days, combining local culture, music, history, and traditions. A packed program connects generations and community associations.
