40 Years JFW Retzstadt — edition 2026
The Anniversary Festival 2026 combines two special occasions: the fortieth anniversary of the Retzstadt Youth Fire Brigade and the dedication of the brigade's new operational vehicle. At the festival grounds at the fire station, guests can expect a two-day program with catering by the clubs and brass band music.
Saturday begins with the welcome of guest brigades and a festival evening in the tent. Sunday marks the highlight with a church service, the ceremonial vehicle dedication, and a parade through Retzstadt, in which neighboring fire brigades from the Main-Spessart district and local clubs will participate.

Four Decades of Youth Work in the Maintal
The Retzstadt Youth Fire Brigade was founded in 1986 and has been one of the pillars of youth recruitment for the Volunteer Fire Brigade in Markt Retzstadt for forty years. During this time, several generations of young members have found their way into active service – a success that the brigade is honoring in June 2026 with a two-day anniversary festival. The celebration is linked to the dedication of a new operational vehicle, making the festival weekend a double day of honor.
A Festival for the Fire Brigade Family
The venue for the event is the fire station at Hauptstraße 29, which will be transformed into a festival area with a tent, stage, and catering facilities. Delegations from neighboring brigades in the Main-Spessart District Fire Brigade Association, youth fire brigades from the region, and numerous guests from local politics and the church are expected. The traditional church service, the ceremonial act of vehicle dedication, and a parade through the town are among the central program points.
Retzstadt and its Fire Brigade
Retzstadt lies in the Wern valley, nestled between the vineyards of Mainfranken and the foothills of the Spessart. The municipality, with around 1,500 inhabitants, belongs to the Main-Spessart district in the state of Bavaria. Since its founding in the 19th century, the Volunteer Fire Brigade has seen itself not only as an emergency response organization but also as an important supporter of club life. For four decades, the Youth Fire Brigade has made a significant contribution by introducing young people to technology, teamwork, and voluntary commitment.
Atmosphere, Music, and Franconian Hospitality
As is customary at fire brigade festivals in Lower Franconia, Franconian hospitality characterizes the weekend: brass band music, homemade sausages, Schäuferla (a Franconian roast pork dish), coffee, and cake accompany the program. Bands from the region will play on the festival evening, and on Sunday, the festival culminates in the ceremonial act with honors before the closing celebration. The event is not only a festival for the fire brigade but for the entire village community and all guests from the Werntal and Maintal regions.
A Date for Guests from the Region
The anniversary festival with vehicle dedication is aimed at fellow firefighters, families, and friends of the brigade, as well as visitors who want to experience Franconian festival culture and club life up close. Those traveling through the Maintal valley on a summer weekend will find an authentic piece of Franconian culture in Retzstadt and a warm welcome in the festival tent.
