Four days of brass music festival on the village square for the 175th anniversary of the Binswangen Music Association
In 2026, the Binswangen Music Association looks back on 175 years of club history, making it one of the oldest music associations in the Dillingen an der Donau district. Founded in 1851, it has been an integral part of village life in Binswangen, a village of around 1,000 inhabitants on the Zusam river in Bavaria, ever since. For its 175th anniversary, the Musikverein Binswangen e.V. invites you to a four-day anniversary festival with a supra-regional program.
The venue is the village square at Hauptstraße 22, in the heart of Binswangen. A large festival tent will be erected here, hosting club bands, top orchestras from southern Germany, and tavern musicians over the four days. The concept of the anniversary deliberately alternates between traditional brass music and crossover formats – on Thursday evening, the folk music fusion band ScheinEilig will be on stage, promising, according to the organizers, “Tradition meets Modernity, Bavaria meets the Balkans, and Dance Music meets Techno”.
The highlight is Festival Sunday on June 7th, 2026, featuring a celebratory service, a joint morning pint, a parade of friendly music associations, and a grand festival concert in the afternoon. Music associations from the entire region between Donau-Ries, Dillingen, Wertingen, and Augsburg are invited to present their traditional costumes and instruments during the parade.
Binswangen is located in the Zusam valley between the towns of Wertingen and Höchstädt an der Donau, about 30 km northwest of Augsburg. The municipality is known for its historic Jewish synagogue – the smallest preserved rural synagogue in Bavaria – which now serves as a cultural center. A visit to the anniversary festival can be ideally combined with an exploration of Wertingen's old town or a detour to the nearby Donau-Ries region.
The Binswangen Music Association is celebrating its 175th anniversary from Thursday, June 4th, to Sunday, June 7th, 2026. The organizer is the Musikverein Binswangen e.V.. The venue is the village square at Hauptstraße 22.
The program follows a four-day concept, dedicating each evening to a different musical theme – from tavern music with folk music crossover to high-quality symphonic brass music and the grand festival Sunday with a parade of friendly music associations.
