150 Years of Fire Protection in Tapfheim
The Volunteer Fire Brigade Tapfheim was founded in 1876 — like many Bavarian fire brigades at that time, when, following the law of 1875, volunteer fire protection corps were systematically established in the municipalities. 150 years of continuous existence mean generations of voluntary fire and disaster protection for Tapfheim and its surroundings.
Tapfheim in the District of Dillingen
Tapfheim is a municipality in the district of Dillingen a.d. Donau in Bavarian Swabia with around 4,000 inhabitants. Its location between the Danube and the Swabian Jura shapes the rural region. In the Danube-Ries region, fire brigades have always been important community structures.
Four-Day Festival Weekend
The anniversary will be celebrated over four days — from Thursday to Sunday, a classic format for 150th-anniversary celebrations of Bavarian fire brigades. It is organized together with the District Fire Brigade Association Dillingen, which also uses its event platform to promote the festival.
Festival Parade on Sunday
The highlight of all Bavarian fire brigade anniversaries is the festival parade on Sunday with fire brigades from the entire district of Dillingen — traditional costume groups, brass bands, floats with historical fire equipment, and flag escorts march through the town. Several dozen fire brigades are expected with the Dillingen Association.
Festival Tent Program
A stage program runs in the festival tent on all four evenings — beer tapping on the opening night, live bands on the weekend evenings, a morning pint (Frühschoppen) on Sunday, and a festival evening with dancing. Festival catering with Bavarian specialties complements the program.
