For three days at the end of July, the village center of Großelfingen, part of Wallerstein, will be transformed into a festival mile with a marquee, beer tapping, a parade of fire brigades and clubs from the entire Nördlinger Ries region, a festive church service, and live Bavarian bands. From July 24th to 26th, 2026, the Großelfingen Volunteer Fire Brigade celebrates its 150th founding festival. Three days of marquee festivities in the village center with beer tapping, evening celebrations, a festive church service, and a grand parade of patron fire brigades and clubs from the entire Donau-Ries district.

The 150th Founding Festival of the FF Großelfingen is officially announced for Friday, July 24th, to Sunday, July 26th, 2026. The date is listed on the FF Großelfingen club website as well as in the event calendar of the Donau-Ries District Fire Brigade Association and the Wallerstein event calendar.

As Bavarian fire brigade tradition dictates, the anniversary begins on Friday with the beer tapping in the marquee; Saturday features a party night with live music, and Sunday is dedicated to the festive church service and the grand parade of fire brigades, clubs, and traditional costume groups from the Nördlinger Ries.

Getting There

By car: B25 or B466 towards Nördlingen, then towards Wallerstein and Großelfingen. Parking available on the outskirts and at the festival grounds.

Patron fire brigades and neighboring clubs from all over the Ries and the Donau-Ries district are expected for the parade on Sunday. In particular, the fire brigades from the Wallerstein districts (Wallerstein, Munzingen, Birkhausen) as well as from Nördlingen, Maihingen, and the surrounding communities traditionally march in the Großelfingen parade.
