Advent market at the St. Viti Church parking lot with arts and crafts, mulled wine, and a contemplative atmosphere for the 1st Advent
St. Viti Church is one of Zeven's most important landmarks and forms the natural backdrop for the Zeven Christmas Market. Set up in the church parking lot, the market stalls, a centrally placed fir tree, and lovely fairy lights create a festive atmosphere, further enhanced by the church's medieval brick architecture.
Artisans from Zeven and the surrounding area offer handmade gifts. Woodwork, felt products, ceramics, jewelry, knitwear and textiles, candles, and Christmas decorations characterize the offerings. Beekeepers from the Rotenburg (Wümme) district sell honey, liqueurs, and beeswax candles. Manufactories complement the range with jams, spirits, and sweet specialties.
Local caterers, clubs, and showmen's stalls offer a wide culinary selection: mulled wine in various variations, children's punch, hot apple juice, bratwurst, potato pancakes, crêpes, waffles, candied almonds, and fried dough pastries. Street food vendors from the region complement the classics with creative winter variations.
Concerts by the St. Viti church choir, brass ensembles, and school and kindergarten choirs shape the stage program. Advent services in St. Viti Church, Advent carol singing, and a visit from St. Nicholas are part of the program. For children, there are craft activities and small carousels.
The Zeven Christmas Market opens the city's Advent season on the first Advent weekend, setting the mood for residents and guests for the coming weeks. Those looking for individual gifts beyond industrial mass production will find a carefully curated selection here.
Over three days, the market shapes the town center life of Zeven. The short daylight hours in November enhance the effect of the fairy lights and illumination in the afternoon and evening hours.
The close cooperation between the City of Zeven and the St. Viti parish shapes the market. Advent services and concerts in the church complement the market program.
