Open Cellar Days in Zeltingen over the Pentecost weekend with tastings and regional food
The Pentecost weekend is one of the most important seasonal periods in the Moselle Valley. Two weeks after Ascension Day, numerous guests travel again to experience the region in its full early summer splendor. The Zeltingen Wine Experience Days take advantage of this window for a coordinated courtyard festival in one of the most famous wine-growing communities on the Middle Moselle.
From May 22nd to 25th, 2026, the Zeltingen vintners will open their cellars and wine shops. Riesling from the famous Zeltinger Sonnenuhr and Schlossberg vineyards, Müller-Thurgau, Weißburgunder, Spätburgunder, sparkling wine, and specialties are the focus. The wines are accompanied by regional dishes: Flammkuchen, Bratwurst, Winzervesper (vintner's snack), Schiefertaler ham, cheese platters, and sweet specialties.
The atmosphere of the Wine Experience Days is deliberately understated and designed for direct contact with the vintners. Unlike the large wine festivals in the region, the focus here is less on the Volksfest (folk festival) element and more on experiencing the wines, the vineyards, and the vintner families themselves. Those who want to get to know the Moselle Valley intensively as a wine region will find an ideal format here.
Pentecost is an excellent time for hikes and bike tours along the Moselle. The Zeltingen Wine Experience Days can be easily combined with a stage on the Moselsteig trail or the Moselle Cycle Path. Several vintners also offer guided vineyard tours in combination with tastings.
The 2026 edition follows the proven concept of previous years. The participating Zeltingen vintners coordinate their opening hours and provide a joint communication medium. However, each courtyard retains its individual atmosphere and its own food offerings.
Pentecost is an ideal time to experience the Middle Moselle both as a wine region and as a hiking and cycling region. Those who have several days can combine the Wine Experience Days with a stage on the Moselsteig trail.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of the Moselle courtyard festivals on Pentecost:
