AHOI Nordenham — four days of maritime city festival atmosphere on the Lower Weser

AHOI Nordenham is the annual city festival of Nordenham's city center and, at the same time, the city's largest social event of the summer. The concept is clearly maritime: three stages spread across the market square, pedestrian zone, and Jahnparkplatz, a parade on Friday evening, a new beer garden area with a beach feel, and a sea shanty choir festival on Sunday combine the harbor town's heritage with current festival culture.

Three stages, four days of programming

The festival runs from August 20th to 23rd, 2026 (Thursday to Sunday). A wide musical spectrum is offered on three stages: cover and party bands, acoustic acts, choir programs, and regional bands. The distribution across several venues in the city center shortens distances and allows visitors to switch between program items. Food stalls, food trucks, and the new beer garden area ensure culinary diversity.

Parade on Friday evening

The highlight of Friday is the traditional parade starting at 6 p.m.. Associations, schools, marching bands, showman groups, and businesses parade through the city under maritime themes — a visual sequence that makes Nordenham's sense of community visible.

Käpt'n Blaubär on Saturday

The family highlight is the performance by Käpt'n Blaubär on Saturday, August 22nd. The maritime cult figure from Norddeutscher Rundfunk fits the AHOI concept thematically and attracts a particularly large number of families from the entire Wesermarsch region every year.

Ecumenical church service and sea shanty choir festival on Sunday

Sunday, August 23rd, begins with an ecumenical church service on the market square and culminates in the sea shanty choir festival, where several choirs from the North German coast perform traditional sailor songs — the musical core of the maritime identity.

New beer garden area

In 2026, the city of Nordenham is introducing a new beer garden area with a beach feel, long rows of tables, and live music. The area is intended to serve as a central meeting point for families, associations, and groups, and to focus more on shared stays within the festival concept.
