The Wolfstein Pentecost Festival is one of the most diverse city festival weekends in the West Palatinate. Over four days during Pentecost, the small Palatinate town of Wolfstein in the Kusel district transforms into a lively stage with culinary, musical, theatrical, and sporty-traditional programme points. Supported by the town of Wolfstein and a broad network of local clubs, the Pentecost Festival combines tradition, enjoyment, and culture.
Italian Night at the Town Hall Square
The opening on Friday, May 22nd at 7 PM is an Italian Night on the Town Hall Square – with pizza, Aperol bar, and live music from the trio Just Music. This attracts a young, urban audience right from the first evening and creates a relaxed atmosphere.
Book Flea Market, Wine, and Open-Air Theatre
Saturday, May 23rd offers a diverse programme: from 10 AM to 2 PM a book flea market on the Town Hall Square, from 1:30 PM wine sales by the Wolfstein Wine Friends, and at 7:30 PM the open-air play 'Sonnenschein statt Seeblick' on the Waldturnplatz (admission €9, children €5). Followed by an aftershow party.
Pentecost Sunday – Morning Pint, Theatre, and Fireworks
Pentecost Sunday, May 24th begins at 10 AM with the morning pint in Wassergasse, followed by a repeat of the open-air theatre at 7:30 PM. The day concludes at 10:30 PM with fireworks at Neu-Wolfstein Castle – a spectacular visual highlight against the historic castle backdrop.
Maikur on Whit Monday
Whit Monday, May 25th is dedicated to the traditional Maikur. Starting at 7 AM, a hike leads over the Königsberg (6–7 kilometers) with five refreshment stops offering food and drinks. The Maikur is a Palatinate spring tradition where the hiking community celebrates the views, the exercise, and gathering together.

Wolfstein has a long town history. The town on the Lauter river was founded in the Middle Ages under the protection of Alt- and Neu-Wolfstein castles. Today, Wolfstein is a small town with a vibrant club life and pronounced hospitality. The Pentecost Festival is its social highlight.
