Oktoberfest atmosphere in a heated marquee on the Schlossplatz Wolfenbüttel
The Wolfenbütteler Wies'n translates the Bavarian Oktoberfest into an Eastphalian version: Instead of the Wiesn in Munich, the historic Schlossplatz in Wolfenbüttel serves as the festival backdrop. Regional catering replaces Munich breweries. Traditional attire and Dirndls are explicitly encouraged – the audience enthusiastically participates in dressing up.
The Lessingstädter Musikanten provide the musical entertainment for the evening. Their repertoire ranges from classic folk music and Schlager hits to current party Schlager. DJ Steven Meyerhof handles the musical transitions, ensuring a continuous dance floor between live sets. The program consciously focuses on recognizable hits: Andrea Berg, Helene Fischer, Andreas Gabalier, Marianne Rosenberg, Udo Jürgens, and other darlings of the German-language Schlager cosmos shape the evening.
In late September, evenings in Lower Saxony can already be cool – the heated marquee on the Schlossplatz expertly solves this problem. This keeps the atmosphere warm while autumn slowly sets in outside.
With its 13th edition, the Wolfenbütteler Wies'n has established itself as a fixed date in the city's festival calendar. Tickets, table reservations, and costume rentals are traditionally in high demand early on, so booking in advance is recommended.
In 2026, the Lessingstädter Musikanten will again rely on the proven Wies'n format: a heated marquee, a clear program structure, and a mix of live music and DJ sets to keep the dance floor busy.
Traditional attire and Dirndls are not mandatory but are gladly welcomed. A significant portion of the audience arrives in traditional outfits – a sight that noticeably transforms the Wolfenbüttel Schlossplatz in September.
Exact table and ticket information will be published by the Lessingstädter Musikanten in the summer of 2026.
