A Festival for the Community

The municipality of Aerzen, in the Hameln-Pyrmont district, is one of Lower Saxony's traditional market towns. WIR im Flecken Aerzen originated from the desire to create a truly inclusive format, beyond classic club festivals or Schützenfeste (marksmen's festivals), that appeals to all age groups, all districts, and all social groups. The motto 'Festival for ALL' is the program.

Domänenburg as a Historic Site

The Aerzen Domänenburg boasts a history dating back to the Middle Ages. Today, its premises and adjacent grounds are used for events, markets, and gatherings. With its sandstone walls and courtyard, it forms an impressive backdrop that gives the community festival its special character.

Club Presentations and Interactive Stands

Local clubs – from sports, music, shooting, and heritage associations to social initiatives – participate with stands. They provide information about their work, recruit new members, and offer hands-on activities. Schools and kindergartens participate with performances or craft stations, and church communities with opportunities for fellowship.

Culinary Delights from the Region

Catering is provided by clubs and local restaurateurs. Bratwurst, fries, waffles, cakes, coffee, and soft drinks are part of the standard repertoire. Some stands also offer more unusual specialties like international snacks or organic options – fitting the aim to appeal to all generations and tastes.

Live Music and Children's Program

A stage in the festival area offers space for live music, dance performances by local groups, and appearances by school choirs. For the youngest visitors, a children's program is available: bouncy castle, face painting, craft stations, small games, and occasional walk-around acts. Families will find ample seating and an environment where children can play safely.

Aerzen — Market Town in the Weser Uplands

Aerzen is located about 8 km southwest of Hameln in the Hummetal, a side valley of the Weser River. The market town consists of several villages and has a population of around 11,000. The community festival WIR im Flecken Aerzen is part of a broader concept to strengthen village cohesion.
